Scope and Contents
The CMU robotics series covers research and events concerning the university’s Robotics Institute as well as Kanade’s time as director of that department. It is divided into seven sub-series: RI administrative and general files, CMU school and department files, Correspondence, Labs and projects, Teaching, Video Surveillance and Monitoring (VSAM), and Vision and Autonomous Systems Center (VASC). RI Administrative files include research proposals, presentations, correspondence, and strategic planning for the institute. The CMU school files include general materials collected by Kanade as the director of the institute, as well as advisory board materials for the School of Computer Science, under which the Robotics Institute operates. The Labs and projects series includes event planning materials and background information on specific groups and projects. In the Teaching series, researchers can find notes and class materials for the Computer Science Department’s courses on Artificial Intelligence in the 1980s. The VSAM series mainly contains presentations and other research outputs, while the VASC series focuses mostly on its external affiliate partners and various events it sponsored. The RI administrative files, correspondence, and teaching series are all sorted chronologically; the rest of the series are sorted alphabetically by title or topic.
